Our Commitment to your privacy

The Motor Neurone Disease Association of Queensland Inc. (“MNDAQ”) is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. MNDAQ understands the importance of protecting the privacy of each individual and this privacy policy details how we obtain, hold and use information about individuals, and applies to all Personal Information collected by us.

Personal Information in this Privacy Policy means any information from which your identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained, and can include information we have collected over the phone, surveys, personal contact or through the Internet.

Why we collect Personal Information

There are a number of reasons why we may obtain information about individuals, including:-

(a) For our research and surveys;
(b) So we can send out information about our services and Motor Neurone Disease related information;
(c) So we can provide support and counselling in regards to Motor Neurone Disease treatment and management;
(d) To enable you to make a donation; and
(e) To provide information about fundraising.

How we collect Personal Information

MNDAQ collects some Personal Information when you provide it to us. It is not compulsory for you to provide us with your Personal Information that we request from you; however, without the specific information, we may not be able to fulfil your request. We collect Personal Information in a number of ways including when:-

(a) you complete an online request for information form;
(b) we undertake surveys;
(c) you make a donation to MNDAQ;
(d) you order resources from us;
(e) you use our website;
(f) you contact us to make any other request, complaint or seek further information about our services; or
(g) you have any other dealings with us.

The type of Personal Information we collect might include:-

(a) any payment details, including credit card details or bank account details of the person or entity making a donation or payment to MNDAQ;
(b) the name of the person completing an online form requesting the information or providing information;
(c) the contact details including telephone numbers, business addresses, email addresses and other such details;
(d) details of the nature and type of your business; and
(e) any other details we require to assist you.

When you visit the MNDAQ website

As is the case for nearly all websites, this Site makes a record of your visit, logging the following information (“Data”) for statistical purposes:

(a) your server’s address;
(b) the date and time of the visit to the Site;
(c) your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au);
(d) the pages accessed and documents downloaded; and
(e) search items entered.

This type of Data doesn’t identify individuals, unless expressly provided for. MNDAQ endeavours to use this Data to better manage the Site.

Your email address will be recorded if you choose to send a message to us by email. Your email address will not be disclosed without your consent. If you do not wish to receive emails, newsletters or other information from MNDAQ, you can choose not to – simply let us know.

MNDAQ will take reasonable steps to keep secure any information that we hold about you so as to avoid misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of your information. If you are providing Personal Information via an email or an online form, you should be aware that there are some risks in transmitting data via the Internet. MNDAQ will take reasonable steps to dispose of Personal Information it no longer needs or requires.

This Site will use encryption and related service side mechanisms for secure data transfer in certain areas of the Site where financial transactions such as donations may take place. In other cases where no financial transactions take place, web forms or online forms usually will not have encryption.
